Icebreakers of Gazprom Neft started year-round support of Arctic oil shipping

New icebreakers “Andrey Vilkitskiy” and “Alexandr Sannikov”, built for Gazprom Neft, have started their work in the Arctic. Their work strengthens the unique logistic scheme of year-round transportation of Arctic oil from Arctic Gate terminal to the floating oil storage facility in the Kola Bay, further the oil are supplied to the world market by standard tanker shipments.

In January, the icebreaker “Andrey Vilkitsky” completed the passage along the Northern Sea Route and joined the vessel “Alexander Sannikov”. As part of the Arctic logistics scheme, the icebreakers’ task is to ensure safe and efficient operation of the tanker fleet in the waters near Arctic Gate terminal, which carries out year-round shipment of oil from Novoportovskoye field. Novyy Port is a rapidly growing Arctic asset of Gazprom Neft, the production volumes have increased by more than 40% over the past year.
