On the Northern Sea Route goes to service the icebreaker "Admiral Makarov"

To provide ice pilotage of vessels on the Northern Sea Route today goes to the service the icebreaker "Admiral Makarov" belonging to the Far Eastern Shipping Company, reported the correspondent of the ITAR-TASS news agency in the administration of the Sakhalin sea shipping company.

The vessel sailed through the Bering Strait into the Arctic Ocean. «Admiral Makarov» will perform the icebreaker support for about a dozen of the Sakhalin ships from the East side to Pevek. They will deliver the equipment for miners of Chukotka from Tianjin and the port of Everett (USA) until October.

On the Northern Sea Route water area are already working the icebreakers "Yamal", "Vaygach" and "Taimyr" belonging to the Rosatomflot. They carry out pilotage of vessels from the West to the Russian ports up to Pevek. According to the press service of the Rosatomflot, the Northern Sea Route attracts more oceangoing transports. During the 2012year of transit navigation were assisted by icebreakers totally 46 vessels with general cargo amounted to 1 million 261 thousand tons.
