Rosatomflot sums up work for 2019
Atomflot (an enterprise of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom) has summed up the results of work for 2019.
During that year, 510 vessels with a total GRT of 30.28 million tons were supported by nuclear icebreakers (for comparison, 331 ships with a total GRT of 12.7 million tons were in 2018).
“A significant increase in the total GRT of vessels escorted by nuclear icebreakers in 2019 was due to reaching the full design capacity of the LNG plant in the port of Sabetta,” said Atomflot General Director Mustafa Kashka.
In 2019, Sevmorput nuclear container ship completed two cargo deliveries for “Arctic LNG-2” project. The ship delivered the products of Russian enterprises to the Gydan Peninsula.
Last year, Rosatomflot’s nuclear icebreakers provided icebreaking assistance for vessels loaded with cargo for the Utrennee field.
Last fall, Sevmorput nuclear container ship successfully completed the delivery of containers with frozen fish products and other cargo. The transit from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy to St. Petersburg took 18 days and went normally.
“2019 was a year for our company and Rosatom State Corporation under the sign of the 60th anniversary of the commissioning of the world’s first nuclear icebreaker “Lenin”,” Mustafa Kashka notes. – As part of the celebration, a thematic voyage to the North Pole took place. We were able to show the Arctic gifted children from various regions of Russia. ”
For Rosatomflot, 2019 year was marked by the completion of a large-scale investment project for the construction of the port fleet. In October 2019, in Vyborg, the Act of transferring the port icebreaker “Ob” was signed between Atomflot and Vyborg Shipyard. In the framework of the project, in addition to the first non-nuclear icebreaker of Rosatomflot, 4 tugboats were built to operate in the port of Sabetta. The construction of universal atomic icebreakers of project 22220 is ongoing in St. Petersburg. Last May, the 2nd serial nuclear icebreaker “Ural” was launched, and in August an agreement on construction of the 3rd and 4th serial universal atomic icebreakers was signed between Atomflot and Baltic Shipyard in Murmansk.
