International research project initiated by CHNL at the International Arctic Forum in China
About 500 experts from around the world attended the international forum in China in May 2019. This is one of the largest discussion platforms on Arctic issues. At the plenary session, the director of Center for High North Logistics, Kjell Stokvik introduced ongoing research activities of the Center, while other members of the Centre spoke during special transport session.
Bjorn Gunnarson, a professor at Nord University (Norway), presented a statistical report on transport activity on the Northern Sea Route over the past three years. Sergey Balmasov, the head of the Information Office of CHNL, presented an analysis of the development of LNG transporting from Sabetta to Europe, comparing the direct delivery option and transshipment through northern Norway.
Also during the forum, CHNL representatives agreed to implement a joint research project with partners from Japan, China, South Korea and Norway. It will be devoted to the study of shipping and logistics in the Arctic area.
