NSR Shipping Traffic – Activities in May 2020

In May 2020, 58 vessels operated on the NSR and completed 161 voyages. Major number of voyages were made within the Russian borders – 116. 2 vessels (LNG tankers “Vladimir Voronin” and “Christophe de Margerie”) have already sailed eastwards, to the ports of China, via Cape Dezhnev. At some areas of NSR the ships were supported by nuclear icebreakers. In a majority, vessels with high ice class operated on the NSR, mainly Arc 7 (94 voyages) and Arc 5 (30 voyages). Ships with an ice class below Arc 4 will be allowed to navigate from the 1st of July.
