NSR Shipping Traffic – Activities in December 2019

In December 2019, 148 voyages were completed, 51 vessels operated on the NSR. Since the 1st of December, the winter navigation period has begun and in this connection ships with ice class not lower than Arc 4 worked on the NSR. Most of the voyages in this month were made by vessels with ice class Arc 7 (98 voyages), these vessels have been working for “Yamal-LNG” project, “Arctic Gate” terminal, “Norilsk Nickel” company. In December 2019, icebreakers “Vaygach”, “Yamal”, “Taimyr”, “50 let Pobedy” supported vessels on the NSR. The main directions of their work were the Kara Sea – the Ob Bay and the Ob Bay – the Yenisey Bay.

It is worth noting that, with the start of the winter navigation period, mainly vessels with a large capacity of over 40,000 tons remained in operation on the NSR. The total GRT of all vessels operating in the direction from the NSR ports to other ports amounted to 3 972 422 tons.
